Volunteers have long been the heart and soul of the Foundation for Historic Christ Church. Indeed, for the first thirty years of its existence, volunteers alone carried forth the Foundation's mission. Although in more recent years the Foundation has added several staff members, the essence of the organization remains its volunteers and the unique character and commitment they bring to Historic Christ Church. | |

Today, volunteers at Historic Christ Church number more than 280. They serve in a variety of roles, from leading tours, welcoming visitors, and conducting research, to planting herb gardens, designing costumes, and planning special events. Their enthusiasm and dedication help make Christ Church a special place. Volunteering at Historic Christ Church is a rich and rewarding experience. Volunteers take enormous pride in knowing their time and energy help preserve one of colonial Virginia's great buildings. But volunteer life here is not all work. Volunteers also participate in a variety of activities that are both educational and entertaining. Lectures by distinguished scholars, trips to other historic sites, book club readings, herb garden and Christmas greening workshops, annual meetings, recognition brunches and galas, and great friendships and camaraderie are just some of the many enjoyments volunteers find at Historic Christ Church. |
