Exhibits from 2003 Northern Neck History Fair

April 1: Spring Opening Carter Reception Center and Museum. 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Guided Tours of 1735 church. Museum Exhibitions. Explore new digital, interactive exhibitions on the history of Christ Church Parish and religious freedom in colonial and revolutionary Virginia.

April 2-25: Northern Neck History Fair Exhibition Exhibits and essays from the 2012 Northern Neck History Fair on display at Historic Christ Church and other community sites. Sponsored by the Foundation for Historic Christ Church, Bank of Lancaster, and Bay Trust.

April 22: Kirkin of the Tartan Traditional Scottish blessing & celebration. Full tartan/Scottish church service. Bagpipes, drums, & marching parade. 12:30 p.m.

April 27-28: Spring Symposium: Valuing Our Heritage Ken Farmer of Ken Farmer Auctions and Appraisals, Library of Virginia Director of Special Collections Tom Camden, and tours of regional historic sites. Get tickets and more information here.

May 24: Annual Meeting 54th-Annual Meeting of the Foundation for Historic Christ Church. 4:00 p.m. Special Presentation with Philip Carter Winery of Virginia, 1762 "Of Wine & Words...the Carter Wine Legacy." Reservations required. May 28: Memorial Day Service Sponsored by the Retired Military Officers Association of America and the American Legion. Music 11:00 a.m.; service 11:30 a.m.

Writing with quill pens at Second Saturday

June 3-September 2: Summer Services in Historic Christ Church Sundays 8:00 a.m. Offered by Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock.

July 14: Ice Cream Social on "Second Saturday" at Historic Christ Church Family fun with tasty ice cream treats in a historic setting. Colonial games and crafts. Church tours and museum exhibitions. Children of all ages welcome. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

July 19: "Hands-On History Day" at Historic Christ Church Explore the history of colonial Virginia through hands-on activities with archaeology, eighteenth-century brickmaking, grave rubbings, and other exciting lessons. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ages 6-12. September 15:Commemoration of Robert Carter III's Manumission of Slaves with the Northern Neck Historical Society.  10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

October 2: Twelfth Night Live Performance at Lancaster Middle School, Kilmarnock by the American Shakespeare Center from Staunton, Virginia. Doors open at 7:00 p.m.; show begins at 7:30 p.m. Tickets $25.00 per person. Contact the Foundation office at 804.438.6855 for more information.

October TBA:  An Evening with Thomas Jefferson, Alexander Hamilton and James Madison Special wine dinner and historic reenactment. Details to be announced.

November 30: Winter Closing Carter Reception Center and Museum Closes for Season. Foundation offices still open. Research room open by appointment.

December 3: "The Holly & The Ivy"  Celebrate the season at Historic Christ Church with traditional songs, carols, and music. Join in this seasonal songfest in the beautifully "greened" church. 3:00 p.m.
