April 5-30: 4th-Grade Northern Neck History Fair Exhibition Exhibits and essays from the 2008 4th-Grade Northern Neck History Fair on display April 5-19, Tuesday-Saturday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m., at Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery, Main Street, Kilmarnock. On display at Historic Christ Church April 24-30, Monday-Friday, 10:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. Sponsored by the Foundation for Historic Christ Church, Bank of Lancaster, Bay Trust, and Rappahannock Art League Studio Gallery.

April 23: Garden Club of Virginia Garden Week Tour Registration and Box Lunches at Historic Christ Church. Visit Historic Garden Week in Virginia for more information.

May 4: Kirkin of the Tartan Traditional Scottish blessing & celebration. Full tartan/Scottish church service. Bagpipes, drums, & marching parade. 12:30 p.m.

May 26: Memorial Day Service Sponsored by the Northern Neck Military Officers Association. 11:00 a.m.

June 1-August 31: Summer Services in Historic Christ Church Sundays 8:00 a.m. Offered by Grace Episcopal Church, Kilmarnock.

June 21: 50th Anniversary Celebration at Historic Christ Church Gala to recognize 50 years of successful preservation and education work by the Foundation for Historic Christ Church. 5:00 p.m. Tickets required. Contact Foundation office for more information.

July 12: Ice Cream Social on "Second Saturday" at Historic Christ Church Family fun with tasty ice cream treats in a historic setting. Colonial games and crafts. Church tours and museum exhibitions. Children of all ages welcome. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

July 24: "Hands-On History Day" at Historic Christ Church Explore the history of colonial Virginia through hands-on activities with archaeology, eighteenth-century brickmaking, grave rubbings, and other exciting lessons. 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Ages 6-12. Free event with lunch provided for all participants. Registration required. Call 804-438-6855 or fhcc@crosslink.net.

August 9: "Second Saturday" at Historic Christ Church Family fun with colonial games and crafts. Lemonade and cookies. Church tours and museum exhibitions. Children of all ages welcome. 11:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.

September 5-October 16: Smithsonian Exhibition at Historic Christ Church: "New Harmonies: Celebrating American Roots Music" Listen and learn how African, Native American and European cultures met and merged into a distinctly American refrain. or 804-438-6855.

September 6: Roots Music Festival Join us in the churchyard for a day of roots music to mark the opening of the New Harmonies exhibition. Local talents will bring a mix of gospel, bluegrass, country, folk, and work songs to the stage in this community event. 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. with performances on the hour.

October: Grand Opening, Carter Reception Center, Museum and Gift Shop at Historic Christ Church Doubled in size, the new museum reveals even more of the story of this unique architectural treasure and the people who built it. Interactive displays, newly unearthed artifacts, documents and other treasures. Shoppers and scholars will find a distinctive selection of gifts, books, specialty items in the expanded Gift Shop.

October 12:  Virginia Symphony Ensemble  Enjoy a peaceful evening in a historic setting listening to the delightful sounds of the Virginia Symphony Ensemble. 200 Seats available on a first-come, first-served basis. Tickets required. Concert inside church with reception in churhcyard to follow. 2:00 p.m.

October 22:  Volunteer Job Fair  Come discover the joys of volunteer life at Historic Christ Church. Learn about all the exciting areas in which you can serve to help sustain this unique cultural and historic resource. 10:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

December 4: "The Holly & The Ivy" Celebrate the season at Historic Christ Church with traditional songs, carols, and music. Join in this seasonal songfest in the beautifully "greened" church. 3:00 p.m.
