Join us from September 19-21, 2006 for a special public archaeological program. Participants will have a unqiue opportunity to spend two days excavating selected areas in the historic churchyard of Christ Church, Lancaster County in the search for the site of a 1670 church. Enjoy an intensive, hands-on experience working with and learning from professional archaeologists, historians, and guest lecturers. Feast on catered lunches and be treated to a special dinner reception and presentation on archaeology at Robert "King" Carter's Corotoman mansion, one of the most important structures built in early eighteenth-century Virginia. A bus trip to archaeological sites at Fairfield, a tour of the romantic ruins of Rosewell, and a visit to the new Archaearium at Historic Jamestowne round out the activities in this exciting educational program.
